Last week I dropped my iPhone 3GS on the ground. It did a perfect face-plant on the asphalt which produced a cobweb of cracks throughout the face plate. Everything still worked (the LCD was fine) but it was annoying to try to read text with all those cracks in the way.
I weighed my options:
1. Get a brand new 3GS from Apple for a $199 replacement fee
2. Get Apple to replace the face plate for $99
3. Get a repair shop to do it for ~$65
4. Buy the parts on [....] and do it myself for ~$40 + time
I was in Portland for the weekend visiting my family so I looked for a shop in the area. Wired iRepair came up with a bunch of good reviews. I called and Matt said that technically he’s closed on the weekends, but OK, he’ll be happy to meet me on Sunday (sweet!).
The whole process took about 20 minutes. Matt gave me a loaner iPhone and graciously entered his password so I could install an app and pass the time watching videos while he worked. Then he gave me a call when he was finished. Now my iPhone looks new.
The price was $65, which isn’t the cheapest I found, but it was far more convenient and I can’t imagine a nicer guy.

My husband’s phone hasn’t been making any sounds for the last three months. When he visited an Apple store, they said he had to get a new phone since he had tripped the moisture sensor. After lots of grumbling, we had just reconciled to getting a non Apple phone (too delicate!).
We were reading through the Saturday paper last weekend and noticed in the Oregonian a little article under new businesses mentioning Matt’s store and thought to stop by and see if he could fix it for less. Fifteen minutes later and after minimal cost he replaced the docking portion of the phone and it works like new.
He was extremely friendly and definitely will go back if we have other problems with our phone and refer others. We highly recommend him!

“Revived a water drenched phone I attempted to fix my phone myself by taking it apart and drying it and putting it back together again. However, the thing kept restarting after 4:00. Needless to say, I brought it in and Matt figured out that I did not properly connect the ground hence a periodic discharge of the capacitor on the ground bus. He has all of the tools and expertise to figure out what is going wrong with your phone’s hardware. This is a valuable service–especially since AppleCare does not deal with water damaged phones”

“Great Service!! I was in Portland on business when I dropped my iPhone 4 in water. After pulling my hair out at the Apple store, I did a quick google search and found Wired. They are awesome! Less than half the price of the factory repair /replacement. But the best part was that Matt, the owner/head-tech, was able to keep my data intact! At the Apple store, they told me that since the phone wouldn’t turn on, they couldn’t get my info off the water-damaged iPhone! I couldn’t be without my contacts and calendar while away on business, so score a huge win for Wired iRepair. Thanks guys, see you next time I’m in town!”

“excellent Service, Quick Turnaround, Reasonable Price…”
“After reading Matt’s ad on craigslist, I decided to call him and see if he could fix my broken iphone glass. Matt said he could work me in right away (it’s a business phone and I needed it asap). Matt had all the parts in stock and it only took about 30 minutes and his pricing was very reasonable (price was also quoted before the start of service).I am so glad that I didn’t have to send my iphone back to apple or stand in line at their store to get it fixed. The time alone would have cost more than what Matt charged to fix my iphone, and Matt even gives a warranty. My iphone is working flawlessly. Excellent and great service, I highly recommend Matthew Moore at Wired iRepair to anyone! Don’t waste your time or money with others!”
From Google Places, Nov 6, 2010:
“Five Stars. Fast, Easy, Same Day Service! Matt the owner really really grasps the concept of customer service. Honest, upfront & with a smile. Fixed my LCD & my cracked screen within an hour. I would recommend Wired to anyone with iPhone difficulties or random questions.”
Joy P. of Vancouver, WA says:
“I would highly recommend going to Matt for any repair on your phone. I drove from Vancouver to have him repair the shattered glass on my iphone and it was well worth it. He did a great job, looks like new and he was very quick. Much better way to repair a phone than to replace it or pay Apple $200. for a new screen. Matt was great to work with as so friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. I will definitely go back to him in the future.”
Debbie B. of Portland, OR writes:
“My phone got wet and the LCD Backlight shorted out. Matt said it would be $90 and take 30 minutes. My exact experience with him. Reasonable prices and supporting a local business. And what a nice guy. I recommend you give him a call if you need your iPhone repaired. He replaces glass screens as well.”
Soros81 from google says:
“Ran into Matt at the 21st Ave Bar and Grill where he approached me with a business card (a sweet business card may I add), since he saw me playing around on my iphone, featuring a sweet cracked screen. Called him 3 weeks later and decided to support a local business instead of getting my ass handed to me at the Apple store. He fixed the screen in 20 minutes while I grabbed a beer at slabtown. Cost = about half the price of the Apple store + one IPA with tip. Phone looks and works great. Thanks homie!”
Peter M. of Beverly Hills, CA says:
“I was on vacation and cracked my phone, found Streetcar iPhone repair [Now Wired iRepair!] and it was done fast. Was able to make my business appointment the following day and make my presentation. I would definitely recommend this company for your iPhone repairs. Thanks Matt!!”

After getting a ridiculous quote to get my Iphone repaired by the Apple store. I found Wired Irepair online and decided to give it try after reading all the good reviews on Yelp. Matt, the owner, was able to fix my phone in about 45 minutes! He was more than half the price of the Apple Store had told me. I would highly recommend him! Thanks Matt!

“Matt is the Man. I broke the screen on my iphone and rather than paying the apple store “genius’s” $199.00 I looked around and found this guy. He fixed my phone in 15 minutes over my lunch break. Super friendly person and real reasonable prices.”
Mary B. of Portland, OR writes:
“[Matt of Wired iRepair]… fixed my phone in 20 minutes, and he charged MUCH less than the Apple store would have. $85 for a new LCD screen, which is about the same price I would have paid for a new one online that I would have had to install myself.”
Mike, from Google writes:
“Matt, was out at the farmers market and agreed to meet me a couple of blocks from my house on his way home on the street car. Same day service, he had the parts in stock and my iphones are back! Thanks Matt. I will recommend him to everyone I know.” <Check out Mike’s pizza shop, Pizza a-go-go in N. Portland!>
This guy does good work at a good value. Highly recommended.
Dropped of my iPhone 4g with toasted glass, walked to the Pearl for some lunch. Came back and Matt had it looking brand new again. Very competent crew, I would recommend to anyone…
The “Home” button on my iPhone was broken. I found out about Wired today at noon. I brought it to them at 1:30. They had it fixed by 2! Excellent work and customer service!
